Did you know?
Indiana residents who purchase a home or who refinance a mortgage that includes a title change, may qualify for property tax benefits, including the Homestead deduction. When a home purchase is made, your title company will typically assist you with this filing but in other situations, homeowners may not know what is available to them.
Homeowners who qualify can claim their benefits by filing the appropriate form at the county auditor's office where their qualified property is located. The request for benefits must be filed by December 31st. In many counties, this request can be filed online and typically takes just a few minutes.
